Baker & Co have all your Namibia photo and film production needs covered.
Namibia is situated on the southwest coast of Africa. It is a large and sparsely populated country which has enjoyed stability since gaining independence in 1990. Germany took control of the area, which it called South West Africa in the late 1800s.
The discovery of diamonds in 1908 prompted an influx of Europeans. The diamond-mining town of Kolmanskoppe has been featured in many magazine editorials showcasing abandoned, sand-blasted houses. Locations like Soussusvlei and Swakopmund are amazingly unique and make for incredible images.
Namibia’s climate is typical of a semi-desert terrain, hot days and cool nights. Namibia summer is between October and April, and only during the summer months from November to February does rain occur, mostly as heavy thunderstorms. Temperatures can reach 40º C which then plummet to low temperatures during the evening. Winter is from May to September with wonderful warm days contrasting with its cold nights.
Namibia’s currency is the Namibian dollar (NAD). Travel is via flight to Namibia and the use of 4×4 double cabs would be the most suitable for the terrain of Namibia.
