Tanzania is south of the Equator, but due to the country’s huge size the climate varies throughout. The main rainy season, which has tropical rainstorms are from March to May. Followed by the long dry season that lasts June till October. Temperatures vary greatly throughout the country due to altitude and location. Tanzania is well known for the Serengeti and the huge animal migration that takes place due to the rainfall this country receives.
Tanzania is bordered to the north by Kenya and Uganda, to the west by Rwanda, Burundi and DRC, to the south by Mozambique and Malawi. The east borders the Indian Ocean. The Capital City is Dodoma and the major commercial city is Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania’s official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). The National language is Kiswahili, but English is used widely. Travelling to Tanzania is via flight and hire cars and 4 x 4 to travel around the country.
